Andrea Götsch
Andrea Götsch, born in 1994 in Bolzano / Italy, has been a clarinettist in the Vienna State Opera / Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2019 and an elected committee member of the Philharmonic Association since 2023. In the same year, Andrea Götsch proceeded her career as a conductor in Austria and Italy, and made her Asian debut in Korea in 2024. She is also active internationally as a soloist and has performed with the Orquestra Sinfonica de Castilla y Leon, the Recreation Orchestra and the orchestra I Virtuosi Italiani, among others. She has won prizes at international competitions and is a founding member of several ensembles, including the “Divinerinnen”, “Clarinet & Strings Vienna” and “La Philharmonica”; she also performs regularly in various other chamber music constellations. She has made numerous radio, CD and television recordings. Since 2020 she has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), from fall 2024 also at the Mozarteum Salzburg.
She received her first clarinet lessons from Christian Laimer; she studied at the Bolzano Conservatory (Roberto Gander), at the Mozarteum Salzburg (Alois Brandhofer, Dario Zingales), at the Nuremberg University of Music (Thomas Holzmann) and in Vienna at the Music and Arts Private University (Reinhard Wieser, Alexander Neubauer) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts (Johann Hindler, Christoph Zimper), where she graduated with distinction. Her conducting mentors are Sophie Rachlin and Cornelius Meister, whom she also recently assisted with the NDR Radiophilharmonie. She has received additional inspiration from her studies in psychology and philosophy, music education and mental training. As a footballer, she plays for the Vienna Philharmonic soccer club as well as in the Austrian women's national league for the Wiener Sport-Club.
